The meter includes
the existing 107,436,642 Wilderness acres closed to most uses plus
55.8 acres
per minute starting January 1, 2007.
Time is running out,
over 50% or 101,000,000 acres of your public lands have already been
closed to most uses. If adopted, current bills would close over
seven acres a minute of your public lands to most uses, via Wilderness or other
restrictive designations, without public involvement.
You read correctly,
Over 55 acres a minute would need to be closed in order to fulfill
this years 27,000,000 acre proposals per Wilderness advocates
